Actually I think #cl-gardeners is probably fine. It's not necessarily  
meant to be a newbies only ghetto--just a place that's got a bit of a  
different culture than, oh, say #lisp. Given that that's sort of what  
the CL Gardeners project as a whole is about, I've got no problem  
with folks using our name to extend the Gardeners' ethos into IRC.
