I find Nedit really good on Linux and Windows (using an X server like
MicroImages' free one). It's more like a typical GUI editor than VIM or
EMACS but
does constant bracket highlighting (eg, it doesn't just flash the
brackets, they stay that colour).

I find VIM hard to use and EMACS too slow.

There is no Lisp setting, as such, in Nedit. I just use the Scheme
highlighting settings for Nedit that I found on the internet.

I'm not saying anyone should use it, but Nedit is a good starting point
for people who don't want to try VIM or EMACS yet.
