[cl-faq] Opening up list all together?

At the moment the cl-faq list allows unlimited posting from
subscribers and posts from non-subscribers are held for moderation.
However there are several hundred spams a day which I have to go
clear out via the Mailman interface. (And which I get mail about as
the list owner.) Which is a hassle so I need to change something. I
was thinking of simply closing the lists from posts from non-
subscribers, as I've done with the gardeners list. But I want non-
subscribers to be able to submit questions for the FAQ. So I was
going to provide some other address. Which itself would be flooded
with spam in short order but at least that would get filtered off by
my spam filters which seem to work pretty well. So then it occured to
me I could go in the opposite direction--I can completely open cl-faq
to posting from anyone which means the spams will come to the list
but then can be filtered out along with all the other junk that I get
sent every day. The question is, how do the rest of you feel about
that--are you confident that your spam filters will deal with that in
a way that will not make the cl-faq mailing list completely useless
to you? Unless anyone strongly objects, I'll probably try it for a
while and if there's too much spam that your filters aren't handling
I'll set up another list with an open policy but which will be used
only for submissions, not discussion.
